Pity this lump in the ‘Peace Garden’ [BOTTOM LEFT] has outlasted the council’s commitment to a nuclear free city, but no surprise that unable to commission any modern pieces that don’t fall down, (Blue Moon rising? – brown rust falling!) the council have wheeled out a bit of classical figurative statuary from the collection. However at least one local is still not pleased and has branded it ‘pants’. This Photo’s in Manchester Chimp magazine, but somehow their caption got mangled up along the way. So I give you ‘Adrift’ by John Cassidy from 1907 – a 20th Century statue in a 19th Century stylee for a 21st Century city.
